Get To Know Your SAC Representatives

Jack Switzer – Parent Council Representative

I’m really excited about being elected, but that’s only the first step. My position is Parent Council Representative, so there’s not a lot I can directly promise to students except for allowing both parent and student voices to be heard to the best of my abilities. I will do this by accepting all feedback. I am still part of the SAC, so I will attempt to make sure the promises of our president and vice-president are executed in the best way possible.

Katriina Hintze – Parent Council Representative

Hearing that I won was an amazing feeling! Being part of my school’s student council means a lot to me and for my future! The role that I share with my partner is to represent the students at Parent Council meetings; to cooperate with the parents and let them know what students would need in order to succeed in tough situations. My partner and I speak for the students of Richview to the parents of Richview. I promise to represent the student body to the best of my ability with enthusiasm and loyalty!

Christina BurnettCommunication Representative

I am extremely grateful to have been elected this school year and I truly appreciate the support of my classmates.

As a Communication Representative, I will be trying to pass along information to students as efficiently as possible alongside my partner, Ben. It is hard to make promises when the future of our education and lives from now on are so uncertain, but we will prioritize keeping the students informed. I will be delivering on this promise with help from the other elected representatives this year and hopefully the receptiveness of other students.

The other SAC members and myself understand how much is falling apart around us, but we will work as a team in an effort to piece this school year back together. Our social media accounts provide us with COVID-safe platforms to communicate with classmates, and I believe we will be making full use of them within the near future.

Ben KingCommunication Representative

Hey Richview! It’s Ben King. I want to say thank you all so much for voting me as your Communications Representative on this year’s student council—you made the right choice. I can’t wait to start coming up with ideas that can let us all interact more but still in a safe way. This year, I really want to make an emphasis on kindness and entertainment. 2020 has been a rough one, and I think that creating a space filled with positivity is the best thing we can do. I will also make sure you all know exactly what’s going on in the SAC, and what events we have planned for the upcoming year. Stay safe Richview!

Noor RashidCharity & Fundraising Representative

Hey Richview! Thank you for electing me as part of your SAC as a Charity & Fundraising Representative this year, I’m super excited to be able to participate and hopefully plan some fun things for the school year. Even though COVID’s going on, my partner, Alessia, and I are going to do our best to create as many volunteer opportunities and fundraising events as we can. We’re looking into virtual activities and games of that sort for the upcoming winter months. You’ll just have to wait and see to find out! 🙂

Alessia SciardiCharity & Fundraising Representative

Hi Richview! Thank you so much for electing me as one of your Charity & Fundraising Representatives this year. I’m super grateful to have been elected and I promise to make this school year the best it can be. I know this year is going to look a little different due to the pandemic, but the SAC is going to do our best to make this year as great as the rest. My partner, Noor, and I are planning on creating virtual fundraising events, activities, and volunteer opportunities in which you guys can participate. Stay tuned for more info!

Samantha ChinGrade 9 Representative

I’m truly happy and excited for this opportunity to represent grade 9s as the first ever grade 9 rep. I hope that people will be open to sending me their ideas for what they’d like to see this year and I will do my best to follow through with them. In today’s environment, we have to think outside the box to bring everyone together in a virtual setting or however possible, so that everyone feels included and has a great year despite all these challenges.

Lia BeyeneGrade 10 Representative

I would like to let Richview know that I am beyond grateful that I was elected to represent the grade 10s at our school. It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of those who voted. I will make sure everyone’s voices will be heard so that we can create a safer and more loving environment within our school community. I am very excited for what’s to come!

Annika SharmaGrade 11 Representative

I am very excited to have been elected as the Grade 11 Representative this year at Richview. As we all know, this year is unique and challenging due to COVID. I hope to act as a voice for the Grade 11 students, bringing their perspective to the SAC this year. I would like to set up virtual games and activities to help unify the school community and get students involved. I will work hard to ensure the best year for Grade 11 students at Richview!

Meg JohnstoneGrade 12 Representative

I am very grateful to be able to represent the grade 12s this year and I’m happy that my peers thought I was the right candidate for the position. This year, I’d like to ensure that the grade 12s have as great of a final year as possible. I plan on finding ways to reach out to the grade as a whole in order to make decisions based on everyone’s ideas and opinions. Currently the SAC has a number of ideas forming on how to make this year enjoyable, although none of them can be announced or set yet due to covid limitations.

Christina FrancoSAC Vice President

  1. How do you feel about being elected?

Being elected to be this year’s SAC Vice President is a huge honour. I am so grateful for those who voted for me and who supported me throughout my campaign. I could not have done it without all of your support. I am also very excited to help execute tons of fun events that I, along with the rest of the SAC, are planning for the student body. Overall, I am incredibly grateful to be given the opportunity to represent Richview and am so excited to provide our students with many fun events throughout the year.

  1. How are you planning to deliver your promises?

Throughout my campaign I promised that the students’ voices will be heard and I plan to do exactly that. I will ensure that all students have the opportunity to voice their opinions by having polls and Q&A’s on the SAC Instagram as well as sending out school wide surveys to find out what our students really want this year. I will also try my very best to deliver promises such as prom, virtual and in person activities, as well as extra help opportunities, by planning well in advance and coordinating with both students and teachers. This will help ensure that all events run as smoothly as possible and are available to all students.

  1. What are you looking forward to the most this year?

It is very hard to pinpoint just one thing I am looking forward to this year as there are going to be so many fun and exciting events such as spirit days, an RCI clothing line, virtual competitions, fundraisers and so much more. However, as Vice President, my main job is to plan this year’s Prom and Graduation ceremony, therefore, that is probably what I am looking forward to the most. The Covid-19 pandemic has taken a huge toll on our year especially for our grade 12 students who don’t have the opportunity to experience things that we typically would in grade 12. Which is why I am looking forward to planning an amazing prom night and graduation ceremony that is both safe and something that the grade 12 students can enjoy during our final days at Richview.

  1. How are you planning to engage with the student body?

I think that it is very important to engage with the student body and to ensure that your voices are heard. Which is why I plan to have school wide surveys to make sure that the students have the opportunity to decide what happens at our school. I also think that it is super important that all students have the opportunity to participate in all events. The first step to achieve this is to ensure that everyone is informed about what is going on at Richview. Which is why SAC will be posting on our Instagram page about everything going on at Richview as well as on the RCI Facebook Page and through morning announcements.

  1. How are you planning to deliver your promises?

I plan on actively listening to what our student body needs, and prioritizing those needs. I’ll also be sure to communicate with the rest of the SAC, teachers, etc, to ensure that I can appropriately plan out and pull through with my promises.

  1. What are you looking forward to the most this year?

I’m so excited for all the creative planning and prospective events we can hold to have an engaging and fun year!

  1. How are you planning to engage with the student body?

Most likely, through virtual events, announcements, or social media. Hopefully, some safe in-person events can be done as well!

Thank you!
