Richview’s Revised & Despised Cafeteria Policy

Since Ontario’s return to in-person learning one month ago and with the start of a new semester, Richview students have had to make a number of adjustments, most notably and controversially, regarding their lunchtime plans. Upon attempting to enter the cafeteria at the start of the 2nd semester, students were greeted by bouncer-esque staff explaining that per a COVID-era policy restricting cafeteria capacity, only 150 of Richview’s approximately 1100 attending students are now allowed access to the cafeteria. Richview’s cafeteria, in which students both purchase and eat food, is the school’s only dining environment, i.e. the only accessible location with actual tables and chairs.

Disappointment and Criticism Over Cancellation of World Junior Hockey Championships

The World Junior Hockey Championships have been cancelled less than a week into the tournament. For the second year in a row, Edmonton hosted the annual event organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The champion was supposed to be crowned on January 5, 2022, but the spread of the Omicron variant means this exciting series had to come to an end earlier than we had all hoped.

The 2021 Communal Fatigue

Can you believe that 2021 is finally over? It seems it was either a really great year or a terrible year for most people. However your year was, I’m sure it was far from normal. The past few years have been pretty crazy, but this one has been especially stressful and by the end of it most of us were feeling pretty drained. There are several possible reasons for this communal fatigue, some of which are clearly related to COVID.
