Richview’s Revised & Despised Cafeteria Policy

Since Ontario’s return to in-person learning one month ago and with the start of a new semester, Richview students have had to make a number of adjustments, most notably and controversially, regarding their lunchtime plans. Upon attempting to enter the cafeteria at the start of the 2nd semester, students were greeted by bouncer-esque staff explaining that per a COVID-era policy restricting cafeteria capacity, only 150 of Richview’s approximately 1100 attending students are now allowed access to the cafeteria. Richview’s cafeteria, in which students both purchase and eat food, is the school’s only dining environment, i.e. the only accessible location with actual tables and chairs.

Untimely Construction At Richview – A Tale of Suffering

Sitting in French class, watching my teacher explain a lesson on passé composé, I inhale, as any normal person would do after exhaling, and a sharp, nauseating, and even slightly funky stench enters my nostrils. Even through my mask, the smell is unbearable. I quickly glance around, struggling to figure out where exactly it’s coming from. The moment I peer down at my notes with a sigh, trying my absolute hardest to shift my focus onto the list of verbs neatly printed on my paper, I jump in my seat. Aggressive drilling, coming from some unseen part of the building, shakes the entire classroom. The percussion of clanks, bams, and booms seems endless. By the time it’s a break, I go outside to the front of the school, only to be greeted by a painfully familiar scent and song.

The Inside Ride: Saints Raising Money for Kids with Cancer

Every year since 2010 Richview students and teachers have participated in the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation’s Inside Ride.
